Third Avenue United Church Sunday School

About Our Sunday School

Third Avenue's weekly Sunday School is busy and active. Our Sunday School includes: Early Years: K to Grade 2;Intermediate: Grades 3 - 5; Youth: Grades 6 - 12. The young people meet for story time during service with our minister, and then move downstairs for classes after the theme conversation.
Children or families can register for classes at any time throughout the year, however, our official classes 'kicks off' on the Sunday following Labour Day each fall. We do not have regular classes on long weekends or during school holidays. Our Sunday School wraps up in May with a recognition service for the children and teachers. This service is accompanied by a celebration with the congregation - either a picnic or a mug and muffin morning.
Confirmation classes are offered as required for our youth. Typically sessions are held every second year.
Visitors are always welcome to join our groups!

Participation in Church Life

In addition to participating in classes, our children and youth are involved in worship throughout the year. Twice a month, as well as during Advent, they serve as candle lighters and read scripture.
On White Gift Sunday the children present the Christmas message through drama for the congregation. This presentation also coincides with the Sunday School's food and gift drive held annually to assist the Battlefords District Food and Resource Center in providing food and resources for needy families in our community.

Our Teachers

We are blessed at Third Avenue to have a very dedicated group of teachers. They do wonderful work with our children by providing a very stimulating, fun-filled program for them. Several of our teachers have been volunteering with our classes for many years. We appreciate their devotion to the Christian education of our children for our families and our church.
Each class has two teachers enabling them to team teach or cover for each other when one in unable to be there.
We are thankful for the guidance and support that our Christian Education Committee provides to us. Our children and youth bless our congregation with their presence in our church community and beyond.

Thank you to our Sunday School teachers, music
teachers and other support personnel who make
our Sunday School the vibrant place that it is!

Our Curriculum

Over the years our teaching team have used a variety of curriculum. This year our classes are working with The Whole People of God and numerous online resources.
